Slim Pickin's and a Wealth of Information.....
So I went to a new spot I've had a hunch about. I was only there a short while before a guy who used to do some electrical work where I used to work approaches me. I haven't seen him in about 8 years or so.
So while he's talking and asking questions, I did manage to dig up a few things.........

I found a salad fork not long ago and now I have a spoon. Before long I should have a whole place setting. I haven't decided what I'm spending the 12 cents on yet.
So basically I wasn't hitting anything good and the sun was sinking fast.
I couldn't talk and hunt at the same time very well and the spot is probably one of the trashiest yet. Then, the guy informed me that his land was just through the woods a short way. He told me to follow him so I did.
He then proceeded to show me where there was once a very old farm house, the path to a barn and a baseball field that was in use from the 1930s to the 70's where hundreds of people played over the years. He showed me exactly where the base lines and back stop used to be. Then we walked a bit further and he showed me where the old wagon road passed right through the property.
At this point I was getting very interested. He then took me down to an area close to a small stream where his kid brother found a coin from the 1700's when they were kids. He has no clue what the coin was exactly other than the fact that it was really old.
The sun was pretty much down by this point but he told me I can come up any time and hunt the entire area in depth for as long as I want. He also said it's never been hunted as far as he knows.
So I'm really excited about this location. Hopefully I'll be digging up some good stuff. We shall see.
In the meantime, maybe I'll make a bowl of cereal and try out my new spoon.
*****EDIT*****
On a whim I just looked up the spoon. Apparently, it's a Majesco Stainless 1950's era spoon, made in the good ol' USA. I think it's worth maybe 5 bucks (not that anyone would actually want it). I'm not real excited about the spoon but the fact that it's a 1950's artifact is a good sign for the spot.
