Small bronze cherub? Colonial or newer? Anyone give me a hand on this one?

Found this 2 nights ago while out detecting the beach. It was pretty green and crusty when I first pulled it out, looks like it has some age to it. I came out of a spot where multiple colonial buttons and coins have turned up in the past. Don't know if it's from that time period or not.

It looks like it may have had a post or piece in the bottom that would have mounted on something else, but what? Any ideas? I think it's cool looking just hoping someone can offer any ideas or anything on it. Thanks!
