Small Buckle???

Found this in an area with other items dated in the 1860's. It may be a family crest but would appreciate any help on this small buckle. At least that what I think it is?

I must agree that that is a bridal rosette. It is kindof hard to see what is on the face. What does the design look like?

Have not got a clue what it is, i've looked at it from all angles. All I can think is maybe a family crest if viewed upside down from my pic.
