Found this little hammer that appears to have more of a decorative function. Any ideas on the hammer? Maybe from a lighter?

Looks like a tack hammer.Could be for shoe repair, or furniture tacks.

Gotta be a tack hammer. Is that a round magnet? for holding the tacks

I wouldn't be able to hammer anything with this tack hammer :D It's pot metal (nickel plated) and appear to have a plastic handle. The circle on hammer claw appear to be copper, which may be to improve electric conductivity. I think the hammer was part of a modern cheap lighter of sorts. Not sure about the hammer bigcypresshunter found :dontknow: It does appear to have a larger hammer head, but still seems very small.

No hole in end. I was thinking that the hammer head would be the striker mechanism and when pressed the metal would connect and cause a spark. It would be cool with a hammer lighter with the flame coming out of the hammer head.

Thanks for the link JimDon :icon_thumright: It could be a hammer for candy of sorts. Too bad you have to break the packaging with a hammer in order to get to the candy :D

Acutally the pig is made of peppermint. You use the hammer to break the pig into bite size pieces. This has been around for 120 years and is a holiday tradition. The newer hammers are one piece but it is possible the older ones are two piece. Your hammer looks a tiny bit smaller than the ones I've seen but not by much. Good luck.

Found two pieces (same area) that may have been part of the hammer. Not sure it will help on ID :D

That is interesting. Is that solid aluminum?

Yes it's solid and unlike the hammer head that appear to have plastic or fiber glass in middle. I don't know for sure that the pieces went together, however they were found within same 10' x 10' area.

When I was a kid, the 'Dime" store sold toy tools. Hammers, screw drivers, pliers etc, were 10 cents apiece. Tony
