I went to a small town about 30 miles west of me today.
Since I work during the week, the only time I can take the time to go road tripping is Saturday Morning.
A couple of things that are self-evident:
1. A lot of branches or banks are closed Saturday morning. Out of about 15-20 banks I had addresses for, only about 7 or so were open.
2. The Vault tellers do not work weekends,so if the tellers have no halves, you are outta luck.
Most had nothing. One bank had 10 rolls, a couple of others had 1 or 2.
The worst was a bank where I asked the teller if she had any halves, and she said no. I saw at least a dozen in her coin tray right in front of me, and she said she was saving those for a friend. Looked like one 40% and one 90% were in there. Grrr!
But it was useless to argue, so I just left.
Anyway, got home with a total of 14 rolls. All were skunks save 1...it had a 1966 and 2 1967s.
So I got 3 40% halves for my trouble. I am not bothering taking a photo for this.
I believe I will stick with my hometown, and with ordering boxes through my branch. At least the boxes come sealed, and my branch tellers are honest, cool people who would not pick silver out before releasing them to me.
And I am getting 2 this coming Thursday.
It was kinda neat to get out on the highway today though...not often do I take a roadtrip these days.
