🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Small US Boy Scout Badge?

A friend of mine found this at a site in the Kitchener/Waterloo area here in Ontario. Looking for a date range and any background history on the regiment if possible.

Quote from the gentleman who made this find:
“I almost threw this little beauty away; I didn’t know what it was until I looked at it after a few days.
I’m thinking it’s a US Scouts badge and was probably lost by a visitor to Canada, always check your suspected junk.”
