I like the nice even patina on the smushed coin, lets anyone see it's period. That 96 is in great shape too. Nice finds

last # looks like an 8 to me
although could be a 9 or 0

If you look at it with the naked eye you can see the 1870. I just couldn't zoom in enough with the camera to get a clearer pic than that. I couldn't do anything with the computer either. Jeff411972 said it could have been smashed with a trolley car. I didn't think of that.

Cool on the 1870 date & Jeff's Correct
it is possable a Trolly was in that area in the
Mid to late 1800's
