Nice!!!! Congratulations on such a fine piece!

Congrats to you,a "smoking" find.Looks like it was used a little too or is that just a darker area on bowl.

Nice little stone pipe, congrats....:headbang:

Great looking Pipe man! Is it sandstone and is it engraved anywhere? Awesome find!!

A smokin' find indeed!

Awesome find!

Thanks for all the replies. I found this pipe about 50 yards from where I found the preform pipe that only had a drill spot on top of it. a few years back. That preform is the exact same design. They are Ft Ancient. I have been on a 2 year break looking for artifacts for numerous reasons, but you never loose the itch. No the pipe has no engravings Steve or carb hole Josh. It just a plain pipe. You can see they used it a lot from the darkness around the bowl. I also found a nice hair pin right next to it. I will throw it on here later.

Ok, the picture looking down the drilled part made me thing it went all the way through.

Worth repeating, Awesome find and congrats! It's been good to see you back in the dirt.

Very nice find!

What you see down that stem hole Josh is the light coming from the bowl. I would assume they used a cane drill for the stem hole, as I have found a couple of spindle whirls at the farm also. My son sent me a pic of the preform one, as he has it in the display I gave him. Probably end up giving him this one also, they need to be displayed together, as it tells the manufacturing process. I have a pic of the preform, but the computer its on is outdated (2004), and I can't post any pics off of it. I will have my son bring it with him next time he visits, and post a pic of them side by side. probably just go ahead and send it back with him. He only lives a couple hours away. There are plenty of artifacts to be found still. This pipe was found about 5-6 inches deep. I'll try to get a pic of that hairpin up, that I found about a foot away.

Awesome find , would love to see the spindle when your able to , sounds like a great site

Yeah I have to get that pipe in a display case for protection Josh. I took it out on the porch to get a picture in the sunlight, laid it out for a pic on a small patio table, went back in the house, to grab the camera for about 20 seconds, came back out, and the pipe was gone. My hound dog had it in his mouth. I shouldn't have yelled at him, because he immediately dropped it on the concrete porch. But it didn't break anything luckily. I'm going to take a pic of that BONE hairpin outside, but first I am bringing all the dogs inside....
