Here's some hats that I found yesterday at an estate sale they all need to be cleaned up a little my question is should I wash them or just run a damp cloth around I paid a buck apiece for them
the Apple one seems like it goes for pretty high price
On youtube there are some videos. One was tide and water with a light scrubbing cloth. The apple may need bleach though, or some shout. Actually the apple one I think on white you can use lemon juice and set it in the sun to dry and it takes out the stains.
Great finds! The non white ones could probably just be fixed with a damp cloth, and I'll second beachkid's recommendation for shout on the white hat, it works great! That apple hat is money, and the carhartt and levi garrett should be good for another $20 each or so.
I definitely recommend doing the Apple hat as a BIN instead of an auction. I would start with a high price and then drop $10 or so each time you relist until it sells. Nice finds!
After first cleaning on the Applehead thanks for the help<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1159600"/> before<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1159602"/> after
Put some shout on it and then set it in direct sunlight for like all day. Or lemon juice I think the lemon juice actually works better. My mom tells me to do that every time she comes down here to visit. The sunlight will pull the stains out.
Cheech, I've had good luck on an all white brim using 50 -50 mix of clorox and water. Sponge it on and don't get any on the colored portions, and let dry in the sun.
That might be as good as it gets. Ive noticed that with time, the cardboard used to make the brim firm slowly discolors the white brim fabric permanently. Honestly its a collector hat, it's rare enough that no ones going to mind too much. Just make sure to make its condition clear in your listing.
