I can see your dilemma. I have an MXT I bought used and it came with both the 4X6 sniper and the 5.3 as well as the stock coil. My first outing was to a very trashy park where it turned out the stock coil was nearly useless. I switched to the sniper and the difference was like night and day. The sniper slipped thru the trash and separated the good targets very well. I definitely fell in love with that little devil. However, I also own 3 Tesoros and a Prizm !V that i picked up this winter. It IS nice to have some sort of a back up. Guess this really isn't much help, but the small coil is wonderful in trashy areas, if that helps you to decide.

I would suggest the smaller sniper coil for the trashy areas. The back up detector can come later when you can afford it. Most just upgrade and save the older detector as the back up or for letting a friend or relative use it when they come with you. Fun is best shared, unless you have a brother in law like I have. :'(

I agree. Another coil will help in many areas. It's kind of like changing chokes on a shotgun, besides it helps you get more familiar with the one machine before expanding your arsenal.

Re: Sniper Coil or Backup machine - made a decision

I decided to go with the 5.3 Thx to everyone for their input.
