I have a question on the so called Jefferson Davis Dime. In that all
known Jefferson Davis Dimes were struck in silver.

In a letter that Davis wrote to a Ebenezer Mason in 1879. Davis
tells Mason, about a coin a Federal Officer stole from one of his wife's trunks.
There is some speculation that the coin the Federal Officer stole. Was one of the
Confederate half dollars. Davis did not say, one way or the other.

In another letter Davis wrote to coin dealer Ed Frossard in 1880. Davis described
described the " so called Jefferson Davis dime " to him. Davis made some reference
to a gold specimen. Could the coin the Federal Officer stole be the only single gold
so called Jefferson Davis dime ever minted.
These dimes were struck at the Paris Mint.
