well this week started off kinda bad but it just kept getting better
out of $750 in dimes I got one 61 and a 5 pence.
out of $100 in nickels I got 1 silver and some other older odds and ends
As for halves, I had one teller ask me what a roll was or what the coin in a roll was, I bought it to open it so there drawer would not be off but low and behold it was a british 1919 Penny, COOL!
But no silver at all yesterday.
today was differnet, I hit some of the banks that are out of town as I allowed them to restock a bit.
First gave up just 2 40s
Second had $10 lose, Good score, 2 40s and one 64
Next few banks were ok, found one box that produced a walker, and got another 64 and a few 40s here and there.
A lot of wasted time...then down to my last $500 in my pocket I hit up a small fringe bank. We have $300,
Ok, The teller brought out a couple small racks and hte different colors of rolls looked like ice cream, 2 fed rolls (resealed) a bunch of brown, yellow and off brown and off yellow hand rolled halves.
I am sure a lot of people would think, Oh dumps....hehe, this is why I pick up everything!!!
got out too the car with them and cracked open a yellow roll. SOLID 40%ers
SWEET! next few were hit and miss but every yellow one was producing 40s.
They were old, very old, each Roll had nothing newer than 73 in them! Nothing worth keeping but the 40s but that bank produced over 60 40s!!! WOW
I also got one proof a 2005 and I got a set of 87s P and D
Well down to my last couple hundred dollars I hit another bank and while waiting for them in the bank one of the tellers was all
So are you looking for silver?
HUH? I said?
Half dollars, they seem to have a lot of silver in them, we keep them when we find em.
I just looked at her confused and said ok with a puzzeld look.
maybe its just a banker thing. But you can find a lot of need stuff in the fed rolls.
Again I look at her like she is crazy and said ok.
So what are you doing with them?
My friends and I use them for Poker.
Oh. she said...do you ever find older ones in there.
Sometimes I said.
Oh, what do you do with them. She asked.
Ok, at this point she was annoying the heck out of me so I decided to screw with her poor head some more.
Oh, the old ones. well I sometimes find some that look different than the others, they are old so and obsolete so I just throw them away.
THE LOOK OF HORROR was PRICELESS on this ladies face!
I took two hundred worth of halves in fed rolls and left.
they provided just one 40%er. But man was that fun!
Anyway finding the early 70s rolls was a nice score. not a bad day I have to say.
