It still gave me something to ponder. Don't know what it is but it's solid brass. Pretty heavy too.

Blingie and Fishy were not impressed. ;)

Maybe some time off will help. :dontknow:

Thanks for peeking.

love the utility knife.

I think that's the first utility knife ive seen posted ..... you never know what your gonna find

otrkid70, pay close attention to Whadifind's posts. Blingie (the reptilian rapscallion) and Fishy (the submarine sage) will magically appear when silver, gold, or bling of any kind are found. They try to claim it, but Whadifind is bigger, so he gets the goods, (with a compromise...photo opportunities.) Always good to find a tool you can still use Whadi, congrats. Is your brass thing a cane topper? Sub 8-)

Love the razor knife! I wonder if the spare blades are still inside the handle.

I doubt it. It's about 4 ounces and appears to have a sort of gear like thing inside?

Maybe broken off a shaft of some sort?

Pretty neat finds. Looks like a small door knob, but I don't think that is right.

I was thinking the same thing as Old Dude with the small doorknob missing the top. Is the bottom solid or open?

If it's part of a doorknob missing the glass or brass part you grab and turn, there should be a small hole for a set screw on the side that would've held it on the square shaft that passed through the lockset.

The bottom end appears to me to have broken off. I don't see a set screw and it sort of feels too solid to be a doorknob. :dontknow: (who cares? ;) )

Looks like part of an early cabinet knob to me too

I thought that at first. But, ya know? It just seems like too much design in this for just a knob. Too solid/heavy. The gear like thing
alone reminds me of something like a clutch mechanism. It looks like it would only engage if there was something
pressing on it, as if there was a big spring that would keep it from engaging until forced together. Strange piece. :dontknow:

I've found something similar before. I was told it was part of a shifter on a tractor. No idea:icon_scratch: at least you got out! Pretty neat how that knife got buried that deep:thumbsup:
