It has rained like crazy here in Arkansas this year and a lot this month so far. Went fishing with a friend Saturday, first time for me this year. We were going crappie fishing using his new Live Scope setup which is crazy awesome. I thought sun, large floppy hat, wore a white long sleeve shirt, light tan pants. So I went to be cooler in the sun and to protect my skin as well. However, big however, my foot has been really giving me fits and so I elected to wear some rubber sandals. I did this because there is no actual heel to make walking harder for my foot. I did this at 3:30 in the morning and totally forgot ab out the sun and my now exposed white feet.

My friend has a history of staying exceedingly long when fishing, like dark to dark. Anyways, when I finally realized that my feet needed some better protection, they were already cooked. Sprayed some sun screen on but way too late as I quickly found out. So, the last two days have been shoes on for as long as needed and then they are off. yep, the shoes are MURDER! Blistered toes and top of my feet because of a stupid lapse of my mind. It was one of the few very sunny days here, it rained three times at our house that day and has been raining lightly ever since. Stupid is as stupid does and this was stupid on my part. Haven't really been sun burned in years and this has been another reminder of why to avoid it in the future. Yeah, we caught the fish as well as a 8 lb catfish. Sun screen, use it!

I did the same thing years ago. The negative image of flip flops on my feet lasted the rest of the year. It's a good look.

almost like a tattoo that eventually fades away

Nice story, thank you for sharing! :icon_thumleft:

I wish you would post pics of some of the stories you have told. Yep, sunburned tops of feet sucks.

never wear shoes so I have permanent white inverted "V"s, protection on the water though

Your friend and I like to fish the same way dark to dark, The only way to fish.

You just need biting flies to remind you to look at your feet...

Not good , burning yourself.
Been there.

That's why when I wear sandels, I wear socks with them. Gave up Filp flops before HS. Burning the tops of your feet is brutal.

Ouch ! Doesn't sound fun by any means.

Never ended up getting a tat but do have some body art from the sun......

Not showing my tank-top farmer tan with a belly white as snow! :o

my right foot is still pretty tender, a constant reminder to never do this again. I also seem to heal a lot slower these days. Stay hydrated my friends
