Found together the tag says? That soap stone looks like something that I might have to go track down and find for myself. Ive never found a pottery vessel that could be recognized as other than shards but now Ive added a whole new category to that list.

Really nice, hard to find intact pottery. I bet that bannerstone was really smooth at one time.

Great finds both, it would be a good day of work digging. Putting together a broken up bowl would be an interesting puzzle.

The banner hole is interesting. oval, like a panel or geniculate banner hole and circular on the opposite

What are the measurements of the holes on the entrance and exit?

Very conical to where they meet somewhere in the middle, he knew what he was doing that’s for sure..pic 1 , I placed the banner in the spot on the bowl, ( look close ) where the piece came from.pics. Very nice Florida boy.
You been holding out on us.. lol

Settle down,, I did this post when I first started a year ago, and now that I can navigate and work the camera better I’m getting ready to do a two part...wanted feedback here, thanks for lookin

Do you think the hole is oval from use wear (rocking back & forth) ?

The situation is...The pot broke, one way or another, then right there on that spot where I dug he made the banner, I don’t know how he used it but I knowledge had to start with a wide hole since it was to be conicaly drilled like it is, I don’t believe it’s a wear pattern.

That’s a cool find. That’s a mini for sure. Doesn’t seem to possibly be an Atl Atl weight, but I guess that not all banners were used for that purpose.

Are you saying that the hole is finished? So much I don’t know about these.

I live in Safet Harbor Florida, There are no stone objects like these supposedly found.....and the mystery deepens, no.1 he knew how to make one, he saw one somewhere before,?, and more questions than answers I don’t know how it was used, it’s controversial among collectors, some are obviously weights.

the banner is a very interesting type.

can you please show an image from the smaller hole entrance side ?
