For those of you that watch my soccer field hunts, they have temporarily been put on hold. I am concentrating my hunting time to find more of these mystery nuts and try to find out what they are. For those that don't know what I am talking about, here is the link:

I did find one more this morning that throws out the main guess that they belong to a memory game. There is a $10.00 prize to anyone that can show actual PROOF as to what these are, and what they are used for. Here is the pic of the one found today.

Piggman, I believe those items you have found are commemorative tokens from the 2002 FIBA Basketball World Cup event that was held in Indianapolis, Indiana back in 2002.

Actually, that's my best guess. I couldn't actually find those exact items anywhere on the net, but looking at the symbols on the sides of those tokens makes me believe that's what they are.

So far, that's as good of a guess as any at this point. There has been literally hundreds of hours put into trying to identify these by quite a few people. World Cup, Olympic Comity, you name it has been contacted with the same negative results. I would have never believed something like this would be such a major undertaking.

Is there someone that maintains these fields that may know what the sports nuts are for? Maybe a maintenance crew or even someone who works for the park district administration..maybe they would know of an event that was held on the field on '02 that these things are related to.

I would have to agree with the basketball theme, that is definitely a basketball on the 1 side..

Hey piggy! Whats up?
I think I saw those on some athletic soccer and b-ball shoes in Academy, not sure...

Everyone at the school has been asked from coaches to principle, and maintenance.

I doubt they were on shoes, there is no way they connected to anything, and it's not only basketball, each one is different. Before we get into a guessing game here, at least review the post I put the link to so that you will have some idea what has been guessed, and who has been contacted. These have gone through the mill as far as trying to find out what they are.

I would agree, but I keep finding them and each one is different. It's like finding a bunch of old coins that has so much patina you can't make out what they are, but you know there is a way to find out. You just haven't found it yet. Only this should be easier with all the sports fanatics that are out there, and you can see the detail.
It's got past the point of filling in the hole, I'm looking for a backhoe now. :D :D

??? Good luck Dave. I, too, have checked out the internet and have come up with a Big Goose Egg. When you least expect it the answer will come to you. Until then HH

I too have spent an enormous amout of hunting with a big fat....Goose egg to show for it!!!

Sorry Pman, I can't identify your nuts

Does that mean I can go in front of a line up? ;D Don't feel bad, so far it has stumped the best of them. And it just keeps getting worse with each one I find.

That is correct, I couldn't identify your nuts in a line up :o

That's a relief, but to be truthfull, I couldn't either. ???

Without seeing the back or their size, I thought they were button covers. They slip over buttons on your shirt, well not your shirt Pman. But you get the idea.

This will give you an idea of the size and shape.

That sideways "S" on the 2002 "Lug Nut" looks like a Chinese Yin Yang symbol. Nothing to do with sports though??????
