For those of you that watch my soccer field hunts, they have temporarily been put on hold. I am concentrating my hunting time to find more of these mystery nuts and try to find out what they are. For those that don't know what I am talking about, here is the link:

I did find one more this morning that throws out the main guess that they belong to a memory game. There is a $10.00 prize to anyone that can show actual PROOF as to what these are, and what they are used for. Here is the pic of the one found today.

OK, here are some of my thoughts & observations on these things. I thought they might be ink stamps / printers of some kind. But the 2002 nut & World Cup nut would then print backwards.
I can't see how the Olympics, World Cup, Auto Racing, Basketball, Volleyball & the year 2002 all tie in. I did notice that the 2002 nut has what looks like a baseball (or basketball) & a car wheel in the middle of the "00"s. So there is a tie right there with ball sports & racing and the year 2002.
And I know that someone said maybe they are from the FIBA Basketball World Cup that was at Indianapolis in 2002. Well that would tie in Auto racing (Indianapolis is well known for Indy 500), 2002, world cup, basketball and I found out that Three Olympic gold medalists were named among the seven NBA standouts to form the nucleus of the 12-member US team that year so that would tie in the Olympics. But how does the volleyball nut fit in?

I'm like you, they have to tie in in some way, but the Olympic comity and the FIBA Basketball World Cup have both been contacted, and neither one recognizes what they are. On top of that, neither organization has given their permission for their logo to be put on anything like these. I have just put some updated photos and info on the other posting in "What Is It":

What are the letters on the door of the race car? And now that we know they come apart because of the one you found that has only one side, have you tried to take apart the others? There might be some markings in there or some other clue.

I have examined them under a 20X loupe and it is part of the design, not letters on the car. As far as them coming apart, that is a mystery in itself. From what I can make out they are made in 2 pieces, the body including one ene, and an end that presses into the body. There is a lip inside the body for it to rest on. Then I think they are copper plated which covers the endcap seam preventing them from coming apart. The others will not come apart without messing them up in some way. The only explaination I can come up with as to how the end came off is corrosion even though there is hardly any sign to prove that. Instead of getting closer to knowing what these are with each new one found, it is going in reverse. Each new one blows away the theories of the old, and puts it back to step one.

??? NUTS.....

Interesting mystery! HH, Mike

heres another angle to try, maybe parts of a trophy or award, try googling trophy manufacturers or companies that make plaques and awards for sports teams and such, just a thought.i have not much time tonight or i would check into it more.just a thought.good luck and remember, its not the treasure its the hunt ;D

Already checked that angle. Main problem is design on both ends. Trophy manufacturers have never seen something like this. They say they wouldn't mount to any trophy they know of.
