I had one when I was young. I would say they were popular up into the late 60's early 70's maybe. Could be older.

Mine is very similar to the one in the picture, but still different ??? hopefully, someone will come up with a better estimate

i had one about 1974. my cousin was selling them for profit for a vets org. mine was painted nice but wore away. don't know how far back they go. nice grab.

When I was a kid in the 1970's, my dad had these and a machine to punch the numbers and letters on them. He taught me how to do it. I punched them for him. They had all kinds of pictures on them.

I NEVER KNEW.....they made them like that but then i was born in 1992 so I'm young lol THATS WHAT I LEARNED TODAY.

I don't mean to steal this thread but i noticed something on my original SS card. On the very bottom it reads

"Not to be used for identification"

Kind of ironic that SSN's are the number one identifier in this country.
