Dug this up in front of an old barn. Looking to know what it could have possibly went to. Treasure chest lol, front door, draw etc. It’s made of brass and has a small skeleton key hole. Lots of fancy on it. Looks fantastic after cleaning it up. Could it be 1700’s or 1800’s? Please share a link if you find any information about it.

Appears to be a lock set for an entry, with a knocker handle. Quite ornate; nice find

That is a great find. Do you, or any of our resident experts, have any idea as to the purpose of the short projection on the right side of the swinging handle or knocker, that comes through the hole in the plate? Could it have actuated a catch? If so perhaps it's a lock for a trunk, a box, or cabinet door.
