Some Awesome Finds...All Broken!

I hunted the entire day at one of my favorite sites and continued to bring up targets. Unfortunately my three best finds were all broken!

Found another sword belt hanger which is broke. Found a really nice decorative shoe buckle...broke and best of all, found my first spur...again, broke! Oh well, still happy with these. I'm thinking that the spur is a child's spur as it is quite small...but I don't know how big they should be...

I also found a bird band from Laurel MD...long trip to Nova Scotia!

The button could be military...it's got an older style shank and concentric circles on the face...I think I see a crown but that may be wishful thinking.

The find of the day was made by my detecting bud...a gold Mason's pendant. The last time I took him to this site he found a 1600s French silver...now this...he's been cut off! :laughing7:

Right kinda site for sure.

How old was the pendant? any idea?

I think most bird bands we find are marked Laurel MD, really rings a bell.... and I just looked at one 2 feet from me and is also marked that.

Not old...early 1900s maybe...

Nice digs, Patrick! You are showing Patch how to dig in Canada. Since he can't. <laughing>

Sometimes I don't feel I need to when I consider it would take someone like you 100 years to catch up. :)

Good looking finds Buddy. Nice just to see the snow disappearing of the fields.
ZDD

Still, gold with some age, something I consider to be quite rare given all my digs!

Definitely rare for my hunts too...

It's a nice looking pendant too...lots of detail...

I'm definitely due for something gold! Has been quite a few years.

I reported the bird band and it was a duck banded in September 1998 right where I found it.

Bittersweet finding the broken stuff. I found 7 old coppers today and they're all hideous. Luckily a spanis silver showed but that baby isn't much better. That button it interesting. Tell your buddy to stay in the car next time lol

At least your duck band wasn't broken! lol
Great to see you guys out there, and finding gold, gonna be a good year!

Think the duck took the hit there!

Awesome digs there Romeo. Broken or not, some stellar finds indeed!

Lots of potential going on there in the paw, and anyone of the finds could have been a great looking keeper.

That's the way it goes buddy zigged and you zagged. :dontknow:

I guess I'd say you did as well as I did on my first dig.
The decorated shoe buckle piece would have been real nice if whole.

Broken good finds are still better than whole junk.

Very true...but I have a 4 day weekend coming up so I'm off to find some new ground and whole targets!
