I just wanted to post some bone artifacts that have all come from one site. A private property site that has had an archaeological assessment survey completed before the construction of the home. I was contracted to create a pond on the homeowners property. It is thick with peat that has preserved alot of material..even wood. While in some cases and in some parts of the country during different time periods some bone artifacts were well refined and easily recognizable this is not often the case in Florida. There of course is some that are... however the large majority were fairly crude and were altered just enough to do the job. Among these are.. an atlatl handle,a blade handle, gouges, splinter awls, bone points and ear spools and pottery smoothing tools. Thanks for checking them out and feel free to add info..questions..pics..ect.

Nice Bone pieces Gator. I love Bone Tools and have quite a large collection of them myself.

Thanks for posting these.

Sure thing.. they are hard to come by down here.

I have always wanted to find an ear spool.Good job on saving the history and I would think any bone from the archaic period is very rare?? 99.9% of the bone I find is smashed to smithereens.

They did that here too bro... little burt bits most of the time.

Marrow is good stuff I guess:occasion14:
