Some Interesting Relics from FL

Hello All. I dug these items with Btoots at a wooded site that has an old road running thru it to a long gone 1890's home site.

Got the usual miscellaneous items and a few unusual ones including a melted silver spoon pc, a glass insulator, a coin changer, a tiny vintage style lock, and part of gun.

The gun looks to be nickel plated brass and seems like it was made to be concealed or for someone with a small hand.

Also dug a strange looking gold?? ring...probably copper though.

I've dug that exact same little lock here in Georgia. Have any idea of it's use? I thought maybe a diary book lock? ?

You are always finding such cool old relics. That Model T Ford is like one I recovered a few months back. SWEET! That tiny old lock is the CUTEST! A real gun is almost always a Bucket List Find for folks. Nice pair of old brass cosmetics items. Nice. Lots of nice old head stamp brass shells. Four of them appear to be dropped before firing. Even a cool old ring. You are a real treasure hunter mate. Always a nice selection of cool finds. Almost like a visit to a museum.

HOWEVER, what is throwing me is the hinge location - can't seem to find a "tip-up" with that location...

Nice finds. I lived in Florida 5 years and only managed to find a bunch of clad and a few rings.

Cambria, I've found two Ford keys like that years ago. One of them has a small circle with a "B" inside it, below Ford, where the "Diamond" is on yours, IT was made of nickel/silver by "Briggs & Stratton, 1919-1920, the other, just like you have with the diamond is made of brass, around 1926 I believe. Very early pin and tumbler ignition keys, very neat to find.

You aint too bad yourself...I've seen some great finds from your shovel as well.

3rd Issue Edition

The Model 1, 3rd Issue represented a substantial redesign for the Model 1, with a fluted cylinder, a round barrel and a rounded "bird's head" style grip. Finishes included full nickel plating, full blued steel, and a "half plate" nickel/blue combo, and there were two barrel lengths offered by the factory. Variants include the "square" and "triangular" top strap design that changed around serial number 9,500. The 3rd Issue guns were produced from 1868 through 1882 with serial numbers from 1 through approximately 131,000



You have a Model 1 Third Issue. I believe the hinge is for the barrel to swing up.

Noppa! The "hinge" (see red line) swing is in a different position. I am (now) leaning to a non-S&W pistol probably made in Belgium...

Not so sure about Belgium since the serial numbers falls within the limits.
