(I was asked to show some of my older pieces so I'm going to bump up a few of my posts so they can see them rather than post them again)

While I was taking some pictures of my Cones I decided to go ahead and get some new pictures of some of old finds and buys. I got a few really nice close ups of some of really nice pieces. Hope you enjoy the pics.

These are of a couple of nice pieces made from black Upper Mercer/Coshocton Flint with the typical inclusions and "lightning" streaks in the material. Both of these are pieces I purchased. The black Blade is just a hair short of 4 inches and very thin and the Kirk/Dovetail is right around 3 inches.

These pieces are all personal finds.

The first Thebes was found along the banks of the Ohio River and is made from a bluish variety of Upper Mercer/Coshocton Flint. It is a little beat up but still a very nice point.

The second Thebes is the one I had Gomer restore. It had both wings clipped and the tip missing when I found it, but as you can see the material is just exquisite so I had to have it restored.

The last one is a Big Sandy that was also found along the banks of the Ohio River and is very highly water polished. If you look closely you can see that it is made from Flint Ridge Nethers Flint and is striped.

This is some pictures of 2 really nice Stemmed Points and another Thebes, all personal finds.

The first point is probably an Adena Robbins and is made from some very colorful Flint Ridge Flint. This point turned my hunting around one spring. I had went almost 2 months without finding a decent point or much of anything for that matter. I went to an old spot I hadn't hunted in years and got permission to hunt it again and had been there for a couple of hours and had found absolutely nothing when I spotted an edge underneath a dirt clod. I got down and looked closer and could see the entire length exposed and I said a little prayer and pulled this baby out. My emotions got the better of me and I lost it for a second because of the huge weight that was just lifted from my shoulders and I went on to find a few nice ones that day and had a great rest of the year so this point holds a special spot to me.

The second Stemmed Point is most likely an Archaic Stemmed type and is made from the black Upper Mercer/Coshocton Flint with lots of inclusions. The same day I found this I also found a really nice Holland Point, which is rare for my area.

The last one is a Thebes that most people say "nice Drill" when they see it, but it's not a Drill at all. It's just a nearly exhausted Thebes that would have probably been turned into a Hafted Scraper with it's next resharpening. This flint is very similar to the Thebes above that I had restored with the same coloring though it's not as high of quality and probably Flint Ridge.

And last, but not least is two Drills that I believe were probably used to drill out Pipe stems or bowls because of the amount of wear and polish on the entire length of the bodies. Both show extensive use wear on the tips and all the way up the body almost to the base which means they were used to drill deep into something and not just through a Gorget or Pendant. Both came off the same site on the same day and were more than likely part of a tool kit. I found these back before I understood things like caches and tool kits and never thought to look around for more evidence of the tool kit and the site is gone now because of construction of housing.

Hope you all enjoy the pictures.
