Hi All,

It's been a while since I've posted. Had a pretty good weekend in El Dorado. Found a couple of Spanish 1 real cobs and a crushed silver thimble with an etching that reads "Catalina Peres." Wonder who she was?

If anyone can identify the cobs, I'd be much obliged...

First is a Potosi pillar and waves variety 1660, assayer E, one real.

Second is Potosi, probably early 1600's. Phillip II or Phillip III. It appears to have an earlier Hapsburgh shield variety, and is off-struck a lot on the obverse.

It's not uncommon for Spanish items to be personalized like that. I would date it the same time frame as the cobs.

Many thanks, CS! You certainly know your cobs!
