Got to go out Saturday morning and dug up some clad coins.
Sunday morning I went out to a schoolyard where 2 other hunters had been detecting the area for a few years, and had told me it was hunted out. I had found almost 100 clad coins and 5 silver coins they had left found before Sundays hunt.
I hunted for an hour and found some clad and only 1 silver coin. I had a dime signal and dug it and saw the familiar color of silver. I got it out of the hole and looked at it, a Merc and it was dated 1916. Hoping for the best ( a letter D mint mark) I turn it over and.............. fumble fingers... drop it back into the hole. Picking it back out of the hole and turn it over and saw........no mint mark.

Soooooo close.
I had an enjoyable hunt just to be out and detecting.
