some sort of old bullet

I found this old bullet in a pasture thats behind my folks house, this particular pasture is where the sante fe trail come through our area. I found this bullet on the edge of the pasture & am not sure what cal. it is or how old it might be, its been fired & one can tell it hit something & has great rifiling marks in it. its a fat little thing i can tell you that!

I'm not familiar with that bullet, but we do need an exact diameter measurement in 1/1000's of an inch, for a better chance at positive identification. Also a sharper photo would help a lot.
