found a note in a bottle early in oct.....this puts me at 40 something bottles with notes in them !! That's over about 15-20 years. I lost count for awhile at 36. This one was sent from key west.

it made it as far as islamorada before it was picked up by a family. They added there picture to it and through it back. I found it in key largo and will email the original senders when I relaunch the bottle in the middle of the gulf stream on my way across to the bahamas. The original goal was to see how far this bottle would go...so I'll give it a boost in the apex of the gulf stream.

heres the pic of hector and family who found the bottle first. There was a plastic fishing lure and some other little doodads in there too.

got a nice cowry shell too !!

found lots of deep greenies and even did good on silver !!

was averaging a silver dime every hunt for awhile...

heres a Walker half a couple wheats and another silver dime.

on the spanish treasure I've been busy diving for the treasure salvage boat down in keywest. The problem is the weather can change the conditions in an instant this time of year. I've been taking the equinox down to TH HQ with me so when diving gets canceled I can hunt the beaches inside our lease boxes for spanish evidence.

here's a fire brick from a spanish galleons oven. A corner brick too !!

this is a 17th or even 16th century olive jar shard and broken galleon spike from an unknown spanish galleon ?? An encouraging find !!

heres an 18th century olive jar shard from 1733 fleet. I'll often hit multiple spots on my drive home from the treasure boat....that's where I found this piece with green glaze/paste.

then there was this one ?? Appears to be Dutch, but I'm not sure...I'll leave it with Corey malcom at the atocha museum and see what he thinks the next time I'm treasure diving.

there were plenty of other relics too. A world war 2 hat pin button with 13 stars, bullets, suspender clip...etc etc... nothing like my September of cobb finds but still trying. Nice to finally get down on the bottom and start treasure diving after a full season of magnetometer work !! Not a great time of year to start treasure diving....but....at least were diving when conditions allow !! As for my equinox... dont fool yourself into believing this machine is for anything else than waist deep water !! Took it to 8ft. And it popped after 20 minutes. That's 2 feet less than its rated. I'm scared to take it to 5 feet for any amount of time !! So... its excal for serious water hunting, and get the eq fixed for a light weight beach and land machine. I guess if they called it water resistant no one would have bought it. You can splash it but not to much, you can use it underwater but not to long. That kind of marketing would not sell many machines....so they claim waterproof and do a lot of warranty work. Dont get me wrong I'm a mine lab man....there advertising is a little deceptive though.
All right guys happy hunting..and good luck !!
