I just got home from a super 3 week vacation in Florida !
I had the chance to do some searching with my new detector, see here: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,258206.0.html

But enough about that.

I had been doing some study in books and internet before we traveled to Florida.
But as you know these will never tell you, how it realy is.

(My family and I visited the western part of the US three years ago, not to compair, but to tell you, that the USA is not completely new to me)

Here some things that I realy noticed in Florida:

- The people we met in Florida were almost always very open and friendly

- More than 50 % of the people that I spoke to, spoke english with an accent, mostly spanish I guess !
(a handful actually didn´t understand my english at all ! )

- Many spoke very well english, but then spoke spanish to their collegues.

- I knew there were many tourists, but the number was overwelming.

- Trafic on the roads on the east coast was much heavier than I had expected.

- The beaches and the water was even nicer, than I could have imagined.

- The animal life is wonderful both on land and in the oceans.

- Florda is certainly a place that I will visit some other time.

As digginman says in his thread I will also say: THANK YOU, FLORIDA !!

:hello:

We are glad to hear you enjoyed our state. Next time you might want to try the west coast of Florida if you are looking for a bit slower pace. We have lots to do (check out my blog) and still have a bit of traffic...

just a little slower pace...

ahhhhhh......

I actually did. One week in Fort Myers Beach. :icon_thumleft:

It was great that you visited Florida for your vacation. I loved Flordia so much as a youg boy from Kentucky that after I retired from the US Air Force. We moved to Flordia and enjoy this wonderful place everyday!

Try the Florida panhandle, Destin area. Pretty laid back here and most accent is just southern drawl....

Ha, ha, TH....

... I´m sure you know what I ment. ;D
American English and southern American English differs from UK English, I know that, I was in the UK several times, but I do not consider Amercan English an accent of UK English, but a whole different language, especially the spoken language.

What I ment was naturely those many people with spanish accent.

If I should come to Florida again, having seen a lot of the southern part of Florida (south of Orlando), what could any of you recommend for the northern part of Florida ? Sights, beaches and so on ?

:icon_thumleft:

You do know I was just joking with you... :icon_thumright:

On Gulf coast after you get north of the St Pete, Clearwater, Honeymoon Island beach area there are very few beaches till you get to the panhandle area, Panama Beach area in North Florida. Lots of natural springs, but the state park ones you can't detect in, On the East coast it is pretty much beaches all the way north. Daytona Beach, St Augustine, Jacksonville.

Y'all come back now, hear!
