Hello all,
Thank you for viewing this thread.

My wife worked at a grocery store for 17 years and had a bunch of coins she bought from the register. Just have discovered them today. Handful of wheat ears, one indian head penny 1890, IMAG1190.webp and more. Hope someone may know about the Canada 1927 coin. The condition is very good. It says George possibly the 5th. Hope photo is clear. Thank you Suzanne.

She's got a good eye for silver! Great! The Canadian cent is both common, and very cool...

I also keep an eye out seems old nickels and wheats come around fairly often Good Lookin!!!!!!!!!!

Great stuff ! Love that silver...have you ever asked your local gas station attendant or convenience store clerk if they watch for silver?....and get that deer in the headlights look? ...I'll take time to explain the "pre '64" thing and now I have a couple keeping their eyes peeled...also my oldest worked night shift at a gas station and scored silver a couple times a week, their change arrived in those clear wrappers and the silver edges stuck out like a banana in a grape patch! Of course, this was permitted by the managers and he replaced what he took...While I DO prefer to dig my silvers...you need to know that winters in Ohio are COLD and the ground gets really hard! (right, Loco?) Thx for sharing, cool post, awesome coins...ddf

Nice coin finds, congratulations to both of you! :occasion14:

Was at mapco and the store clerk showed me a 1936 buffalo nickle. To funny.

SLQ's - IH - Rosies fantastic finds - had a friend a few days back give me a 1964 & 1957 Rosies he got in change - "congrats" to your wife for knowing what to look out for.

Thats a nice haul from the register. People still spend the stuff. Just a few months back, my daughter received a silver Rosie back in change, and my wife received a Merc dime back in change.

Funny thing...about 17 years ago, I sold my White's whatchamacallit detecctor because we had just had a set of twins, and spare time was something I did NOT have...ok...approx 3 years ago I empty my pockets and...BOOM!...1943 Mercury dime...not sure where I picked it up at, but there it was, pretty as punch...and that itty, bitty, little spark..eventually turned into a roaring flame. That little Merc is what got me into detecting again, and I am SO glad that I did...what a great hobby...thx for sharing, brought back some great memories...ddf
