Had a pretty good day today, 10 boxes and 61 Silvers, 4 proofs, alot of uncirculated NIFC's (somebodys collection i guess) But couldnt help to wonder who would mark and throw these out? IMG_20130423_141806 (1).webp

I will post pics of todays score later, left my half at my unkles place since I had to leave early.

Not the first time I've seen something like that. Some people don't know about the 40%ers. Let's keep it that way ;-)

Not too long ago a 40%er wasn't worth a whole lot so most CRHers rejected them.

Hopefully silver will keep going down, and they will reject more!:icon_thumleft:

If I had a 40%er for every marked coin I got... :)

I would be a very happy guy.

I LOL'd! I've been dying to find a marked 40% or a marked error coin. I'm very jealous!

Nice finds jamesg13!

a coin shop does this next to me so he dosent mix the 90% with the 40% when he ships them off to melt them!

You mark is one of 3 reasons:

1) It was marked when 40% were not kept.
2) It was marked by a business or casino so that their halves wouldn't leave the premises.
3) Someone was going through them fast, and missed two. Namster had a marked Ben.

Very neat, I have a marked 40% as well, in red ink. I never sold it because it was actually pretty cool to hang onto :)

I'd say it was an eccentric coin roll hunter that stayed in his house too long and looked through too many coins and one day went mad, he then proceeded to start keeping only 1971's because those are the coins that the aliens told him had true value...yeah idk haha

IDK ? Maybe they were Stolen and a CrackHead needed a Fix ? LMAO... ha ha ha ha ha

I wish I had a dime for every 40%'er that I threw back over my years - I would be a wealthy man. Some old timers will vehemently argue that there is no silver after 64 despite what evidence to the contrary you present. In these cases, the old adage is true: You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

pics as promised, 22 64's and 39 40% -got shut out of boxes today, hope next tuesday will compensate for it!
