Very Nice! Care to divulge what town he farmed near in eastern sd? This is where I have relatives that farm too.

So Ill take a guess.........grooved maul?

Nice! :icon_thumleft: Still looking for one!

It is nice to have something that has a lot of meaning associated with it. Thanks for sharing.

Amen! I wish I had the hammers that used to lay around my grandfathers garage, he had picked them up off his farm. My uncle with no interest in artifacts ended up with them.

Im glad I got one rite, lol. I have yet to find anything grooved just ground or flaked here so far. Its a great artifact.

Awesome maul, I'd cherish that forever...

Yes, Full Grooved Maul. Near Peever / Sisseton, Roberts County.

My latest finds of much significance are a 4/4 grooved axe and a 3/4 grooved piece as posted here. Grooved maul works for me. However, some call these grooved axes. That doesn't work as well as maul does, for me anyway. I have seen pieces labeled as mauls that were much larger than the posted piece, and my find as well. I honestly think these were war clubs or Hammers. Nice find. I hope someone will value my finds 100 years from now.
