Ok, Im going to try to relay this story the best I can remember as it has been about 15 years since I last checked it out. I was working as a painter doing some maintanence painting for Mountian Bell in Tempe Az. The maintanence man there told me about how he investigated some spanish gold in the South Mountians of Phoenix. He told the story of how he researched than hunted for the gold. He was sure he found the spot but since it is a city park land that he wasnt able to dig there. So he and a partner would sneak into the mountians at night and dig where they thought the gold was. He said this went on for several weeks. He said his family was up for some vacation time from work so the went on vacation for a couple of weeks and when they got back his buddy had packed up his family and all their stuff and moved to whereabouts unknown. He went to their treasure sight and there was nothing there but a big hole that had more work on it than when he left. He assumed that his buddy found something and split the state with the loot. I searched up there with my Tesoro Lobo but being a newbie at it and some highly mineralized land with lots of trash I gave up. I thought I would share the story cuz maybe this would help somebody that heard of this treasure.
