Today's finds were bittersweet. I think the Southern Cross of Honor Medal would've been an outstanding find with a detector but coming from this creek it's in very poor condition. I'm still glad to have found it though! Other items to note were a 5 centavo Philippines coin, a slick Chinese coin and more melted gold that tested 10k.

Congratualtions on the nice Relics! :occasion14:

Yep, that one has been thru the ringer, but a nice piece of history

Congrats on a great find.

Congrats. Regardless of condition, a very nice find. Southern history is tough to come by. Well played sir.

Garren, Congrat's to you on the great find and save of the Southern Cross. My Great-Great Grandfather as Many southern veterans was a recipient of this most distinguished award and medal. I'm sure that most of the old veterans were probably buried with their hard won medals. It makes one wonder how the one you found wound up in the creek. Rough shape or not, as said it is a Valuable piece of Southern History and at one time would have been a priceless possession to the old vet that both won and earned this medal. Well Done Sir.
