ACE 250, Minelab Excal II, ETrac, Infiniuim
I currently use and ACE 250, Excal II, and E trac (although I don't really have a handle on this yet.) I'm headed to England and gonna borrow a machine. I can use a sovereign GT or a Goldmaster III. I'm thinking I'll use the sovereign. How hard will it be for me to use with someone who knows it well showing me the ropes? Will it be heavier than the Etrac? thanks for replying!

Hey there!
Seeing you purchased your Etrac from me, I should help you with this.
If you say that you borrowing a Sov.GT from someone, and you will be instructed by someone who knows the machine. ...Then by all means, go with the Sov. The weight is not to much a difference.
And the Sov. will probably be more stable. It's very easy to use and with 17 frequencies you should be able to compete with the best of them over there.
Etrac Weight, 4.8 lbs with battery installed
Sov. GT Weight: 6 pounds
Take care,
Mike

Ok so I'm thinking of buying a swingy thingy. would I need the round or square clamp for this?

You should take notice that you can detach the controls from the shaft with the GT and carry it in a bag from your neck or hip mounted. This takes a lot of weight off the arm and I don't need a strap for weight support.

thanks guys!!

Are you referring to the Etrac? If that is the issue taking to England, then call me. I'll give you some settings over the phone. That is the machine you want to take if you can. If you need help, we are here for you.

If your using the Sov.GT what size coil are you going to use ? we all seen the amount of iron brass and silver even gold !! in those fields 2500 + years worth is there a small coil made for the Sov.GT besides the 8 " i guess Mike would know , by the way i just got my Sov.GT with the S-12 coil i just ordered the hip mount bag that machine is lighter then my DFX by a few pounds which has a 10x12 SEF coil on it so that is a plus so if i take the Sov.GT control box off the shaft it will be even lighter :headbang: , and good luck find a Viking Hoard :laughing7: Dd60
