Sovergin & Excalibur

You know i saw something on another forum that i never thought of this way................ But by God it is the truth ................................................. That the Excalibur a $1200.00 detector is just mid-range stripped down sovereign stuck in a waterproof box.............That you get the privilege of paying an extra $500.00 more or less for the waterproof box......that is the truth it is a stripped down Sovereign that cost more for less........

Not quite.........The Sov if waterproof would be a better water detector I believe because you have more choices of operation. That Water Proofing is good down to 200 feet and I have taken it down to near 130 ft. It's cold down there too. Sure you get "less" with the Excal, but how much is having something we can get wet worth? I love the way I can change coils on the Sov.

Yes i like the Sovereign also ........... Just picked up another one...... But i do not care for a detector i can not change coils on myself.......... And to me the Sovereign for the option's it has more than the Excalibur has.........So it makes the Sovereign a better detector for less money......................... And to me the Sovereign is as deep as any Explorer or E Trak.........

Re: Sovergin & Excalibur

The lalalala part is Brit' slang for "tongue in cheek sarcasm". :laughing9: Imma Excal man is why. :tongue3:

Re: Sovergin & Excalibur

People overlook the fact that the Excal. was and is designed to be used PRIMARYLY for
and by DIVERS first and formost. An 8" or 10" coil is about all a diver wants to swing
underwater so there is no need to make it where they could change the coil and have
a chance of leaks at that point. Same with the controls they left off that the Sov. has,
they are not needed on the Excal. for its intended purpose. Every one knows the Excal.
is of a very poor design for someone to use walking the beach both in or out of the water.
Yes it works there, but it works better when and where it was made to be used! I have and
use both and have no regrets of there " short coming's " and if I want to change things up
a little I get out the Sea Hunter mk ll and change the coil on it if I need to go bigger or smaller.
