Let me re-phrase then- Spain has a lot of "cultural heritage" to be proud of... yeah right. Those in power are Common thieves, always have been always will be, a zebra doesn't change his stripes. Same goes for the one who hold the power in this country. Have a nice day compadre.mariner said:Diggummup:
"Common thieves, always have been always will be" applied to the whole Spanish nation: fact not bigotted Xenophobic opinion? I think not.

Xenophobic? Hate? Please! Nothing I have stated is even remotely unreasonable nor unwarranted. Learn your history as it pertains to Spanish explorers. I didn't even mention the thousands of people they killed by disease and pestilence. This is the country that started the slave trade in the "New World" for christ sake. Opinion is one thing, the reply you expressed is such an example. Fact is another (that'd be mine). Have a great day.diggummup said:mariner said:You can't "discover" something that already exists. Truth be told the main objective of Spanish explorers was to win the favors of their rulers by expanding their "empire" to have more control of the world and by relishing them with gifts of gold and silver. In doing so they continuously pillaged, raped and murdered countless thousands of indigenous peoples from the lands they inhabited for thousands of years. Spain has a lot of "cultural heritage" to be proud of... yeah right. Common thieves, always have been always will be, a zebra doesn't change his stripes. "Conquistador", the word itself says it all.
Isn't it time that we stopped this kind of Xenophobic rant on TNet??
It's one thing to have an opinion on the Odyssey saga, quite another to express "hate" opinions like this.

A case of monkey see monkey. Learned from those who perfected it, starting with good old Christopher Columbus. Not Britian, nor Spain, nor France has anything to be proud of when it comes to the "colonization" of the Americas. Crimes and atrocities against humanity were committed by all of them. I could care less if it was a European court , American court, or a Chinese court for that matter. I believe in finders keepers after more than 200 years on the ocean floor. Those who put the money, blood, sweat and tears into the recovery of the coins should be the rightfull overseers of it. At the very least, compensation for the monies spent in the recovery of the treasure, or perhaps a simple thank you would even help. But as usual Spain in all of it's self perceived superiority is too good for such a thing. They've painted Odyssey Marine as modern day pirates. Don't act like Spain is trying to preserve it's "cultural heritage" by the acquisiton of these coins, we ALL know that is not the case. I can't wait to see how many of these 594,000 or so coins actually show up for public display at museums around the country (Spain), as the Spanish Cultural Ministry claims will be the case. Yeah right.MORE AND BEYOND OSSY said:This coming from a US citizen, How did the US treat it's slaves !! Wake up to yourselfWho are you kidding
How did the Pilgrims end up taking the land from the native Indians, with hand sake or a bullet to head !!!!!
You are just upset a US court ( Not European ) has banged Odyssey on the Head. suck it UP![]()

Another prime example.Alexandre said:Quite the contrary: Spain is going to ask Odyssey to pay their legal fees...diggummup said:Those who put the money, blood, sweat and tears into the recovery of the coins should be the rightfull overseers of it. Lucky enough we are wealthy enough to pay the poor people from the third world (including Spanish and Portuguese) to come and run around for us in the Premiership (World largest and most popular league).
