A great day indeed JD. 👍

Anything Spanish is awesome

Nice finds, JD. I was out there too yesterday but nothing worth posting. What is the ID on the Spanish copper? I've never found one. Congrats!

I can’t figure it out, no matches on the internet. I had someone suggest it might be counterfeit which would make sense because the VDI was only a 69 on my Deus ll. It was also found 20 or 30 feet from where I found a 1709 Carlous the pretender 2 reale. I’ll post more pictures

Kind of looks like it's a counterfeit from the broken edge. (photos are tad blurry)
It's a cool recovery

Yeah, I’m not much of a photographer 😅 but I’m leaning towards it being counterfeit. Not far from this spot we’ve found a lot of counterfeit coins but they were mostly British with the exception of a Connecticut copper made of tombac my buddy found.

Update, a guy in one of my Facebook groups ID’d this to be a James ll Hibernia , 1680’s

The biggest thing is the new cameras (phones) have auto focus. So they focus on one thing and this being the background instead of the coin.
Photos look ok until they're actually uploaded then it's oh crap moment.

So many counterfeits being from one area sure makes it interesting though.

Besides the Blacksmith tokens I don't get any counterfeits (then again the age of the area dictates that)

Well cool, I haven't found one of those either! On your coin, are able to see if the bust is definitely facing right?

I’m 90% sure, i Did most of my ID from matching the crown and harp on the reverse and the word “ Carlous” on the obverse. And, that late 1600’s time frame is correct with some of the other coins that have been dug at this permission and the other 2 very close by. We were talking with one of the property owners and he’s convinced the main road back in the 17th and 18th centuries went through all three farms paralleling the modern road in use today.
