image.webpDecided to get in the bayou near a long lost sawmill. Every cast pulled in something. These are what I think are log "dogs" and pins. What do y'all think?image.webp

Don't know about the "log "dogs" and pines." But nice finds nonetheless.

I agree that that is what they are. Great finds...d2

MAGNET FISHING AND GOOD FINDS , PRICELESS ...

Nice, my last time out I got a rotten old rod and reel and an arrow.... you did a lot better than me

Just informed that these are "chain dogs" A long board or small diameter tree would be laid across a number of cypress logs and would be clamped down across the logs on either side by a small length of chain held down by a wedge driven in on both sides of the log. This was done for each log. This was repeated until you had a raft of logs that you could float down to the mill.

Hey Tigerdude,

I've never heard of magnet fishing. Could you please tell me what you know about it. Any tips or suggestions? I'm so intrigued, I ordered 2 magnets from Amazon. I was just hoping you could give me some tips and advice before I give it a go. Thanks!

kjmagnetics.com you need a neodymium magnent. Get a 3 inch diameter with an eye bolt. Attach a 20-20 foot cord/rope and start slinging. Also go to youtube and search magnet fishing.
