Spoon?

I found this object on my property last weekend. It LOOKS like a spoon but obviously, there's no handle.
It was buried about 4-5" deep. I believe this used to be an old farm. I've found plenty of barbed wire and pieces of horseshoes (oddly enough, I've never found a whole horseshoe).
Any ideas what this could be? Even though it looks exactly like a spoon, the missing handle seems strange, not to mention it appears to be made of iron or something OTHER than what I'm used to seeing spoons made of.
Could it be a blinder for a mule? Seems a little small for that...

I believe it IS a Spoon. The Handle probably rusted away. altho rare, I have foud a few POSSABLY IRON Spoons already.
