With mild temps yesterday and through last night, most traces of our winter storm disappeared and the frost line was broken.I planned on going for a short swing today but wasnt able to get out till afternoon.By then, the temps had dropped below freezing and with a solid 35 mile an hour breeze it was downright miserable out.I headed to an area where I had found a nice sterling bracelet earlier in the year in hopes of picking up another keeper.I searched this grass strip between a parking lot and a beach area for close to two hours.I had found only a bit of clad,a ton of can tabs, and one plate over copper ring. With numb hands and a runny nose I stooped to dig what was certainly my last can tab of the day.The wind was brutal and I had had enough.I pulled out a plug of about three inches and then dug another three inches of muck from the hole. One of the muck globs had a little shape protruding from the side so I gave it a squeeze and out popped a chunky gold ring! 10kt mans ring with an eagle on the face.In its talons is a small diamond?
GOOD ENOUGH!.....I filled my hole , and headed for the truck.Time to thaw out.....which was a painful process for one of my hands.
Very much worth the effort...as miserable as it sounds,I was still happy to be hunting.
H.H. and H.H. to all.......Joe

It is 35 degrees outside right now in Colorado Springs and I'm too chicken. Went out 2 days ago and 'bout froze to death with no find! Gold rings are worth almost freezing for!

Many congrats!
