Hi Guys, i had an awesome day yesterday. After the muddy weather what made it impossible to search, the cold came back. And thank god for that! Temps dropped to minus five celsius what froze the muddy ground enough i could walk and search on. Yesterday i decided to search at the most public part of the field im working at right now. Its directly at the street and i didnt do that part yet because i dont like people staring at me. Had two cars stopping and just staring for minutes. Annoyed the crap out of me but i made good finds so i didnt care.

At first i found about 25 Musket Balls and Six Buttons from Naoleon the first again. Like finding these buttons so i was already happy at that point. Then i found a few coins but most were some Nazi Zinc coins and arent worth showing. The only good one is a LIARD DE LORAINE from 1728. Its a french region coin and am pretty happy as they seem rare. Its in the bathtub right now so cant show it yet.

Then i found something that looked like a piece of Mud. It was so crusted that i could see what it was. When i was at home cleaning, it turned out that it was the Feldbinde of an SS Führer. Its some kind of Belt Buckle for high ranked SS Soldiers. Its an extremely rare find, especially where i live. You just dont find them here so i was shocked. :headbang: Right now, it is in the Bathtub.

Then i found a Hakenkreuz that was broken off from a medal. I think it was broken off the german Panzerkampfabzeichen which was on my want list since years. Again, in my Area you dont find them. Its the german Tank Battle Medal.

Then i found a gem that was a piece of jewelry once. I only found it because of the little metal it had on it. Again, what a day.

Also found some Lead toy soldiers. Theni found some nice pottery! Please have a look at the broken legs of a Statue. So sad the Rest is missing. Then i found a nice tiny fibula, an outstanding gold plated Button, a Botton with a Crown including something where it was attached to, some unidentified Pieces that look very old too, a lot of Lead Seals, some empty Wehrmacht shells that i am not showing because they are boring, a broken black Piece of a coin or a medal that says REPUBLICE FRANCAISE and is probably from Napoleon I. too and some other thing. Just take a look at the pics...hope you enjoy them as much as i did finding the stuff!

that buckle is really cool. I've studied WW2 history for a large part of my life and I would love to dig relics like that

Awesome finds once again .I really enjoy seeing and learning about European history. Thanks for showing..Davers

Very intresting finds................HH

Yeah, its fun to digg stuff like this. But there also are a lot of explosives around that spoil the fun a bit.

But im really surprised to see how good the Buckle looks after the Treatment with Oxalic Acid. Are you guys aware about its benefits for Restorating Finds? Its not useful for every type of metal but for some, its really unbeatable. This was after only 18 Hours of bathing.

Stunning Gemini.. Banner vote submitted.

Thank you very much, i greatly appreciate it! The picture of the cleaned buckle would definately look badass up there. :)

The buckle is really a rare find. Don't know from another one dug. But i agree with Silver Searcher, the annular buckle is a great sign and also somewhat rare when complete! Congrats on a successful hunt!

Hello Gemini Alpha,
You've really quite a broad variety of items there as well as ages. A lot of tough things have happened in Europe over the years, various wars and such. I can picture in my mind demolished homes and the cleanup afterward and I was just wondering if you have any history on the park you are hunting and if it was used as a staging are where wreckage was stored before it was taken off? Just a thought. Keep up the great finds and do not be put off by the people staring at you, I used to worry about that when I started. All I needed was to find my first gold ring under a sidewalk reconstruction in the downtown area and I do not care who looks at me...........63bkpkr

Hi Guys, have been re-searching the Area where i found the buckle yesterday and this is what was suddenly laying in front of me in the soil. Another first for me.

Its a german soldiers ww2 dogtag and says " Ln. Komp. mot. Böbl."

Other Half is missing so i assume the soldier died there. I found huge loads of shrapnell and fuse splinters a few feet away from there. Not really a place i´d wanted to stand when that Tank Grenade went down...its not an SS Dogtag but definately a sign that there were some bloody fights at that place.

Wow! I know you'd mentioned about finding munitions in the earlier post but that piece of a dog tag and your finding fuse remains adds a bit of trepidation to be detecting in a war zone especially realizing that the dog tag could have been blown apart. Swing carefully...............63bkpkr

they are pretty easy to snap in half

DSCF0009.webp

this is a little Graphic, but My understanding
they are made to break apart, & half is shoved in the eye socked of the deceased soldier
as ID

I believe the other half is brought back as proof the soldier didn't make it
