That is the only creature that truly revolts me. At my place all snakes are endangered, and very few are survivors.

Seriously, they hold 2 or 3, maybe more, rattlesnake hunts here in Oklahoma every Fall and at each one they catch a couple of hundred rattlesnakes. They empty their snake bags into a big walled circle much like a circus. There's always some fool walking around in the circle and messing with them. Fool! Snake bites are rare. Then they are butchered and they have a big snake fry. They give prizes for the biggest rattler, the most rattles, etc. Several hundred people turn out each time. Quite a sight to witness. At any rate, I don't fear snakes, but I do highly respect them and give them a lot of room to escape. Monty

I got a T-shirt, bought at GoodWill once, has a big rattlesnake on it...I think along with Oklahoma state outline. I'll have to check, I think the state is Oklahoma. I always wondered about the shirt, but your post probably is a good explanation for it. :thumbsup:

Oh, seems I remember it said something like "Rattlesnake Derby" at the top.

Loved the photos, thats the place I want to look for snakes and get some cool photos. I own snake boots but not sure if I trust them enough to put them to the test. I still wear them though. :thumbsup:

Nice photos. I wandered around the state one year while on vacation. I had no idea that rattlesnakes were around there, especially around SLC.

I'll keep my eyes (and ears) open if I'm back that way again. Beautiful, unique state though.

Still cool pictures. Thank you, Mental Granny, for mentioning Foreman Scotty and Bob Jenni. I saw them once when they came out to the Co-op's annual members meeting. The snakes got loose before they came in the building and Bob had to catch them all. Of course, I was real, real little then and don't remember a lot. I could have still been in diapers. I also suspect that these photos could be shots of the snake farm that Willie and Cannonball tried to start up on the Circle 4 Ranch in order to get rich selling the skins and meat, until Foreman Scotty put a stop to it, and sent them both back to the bunkhouse. Cool Post.
