A few finds from this morning. I was thinking one looks like a gastropod and I am not sure of the other. Also spotted a tiny starfish that was tough to photograph.

It's an echinoderm paleontological remain, yes, but it's not a starfish. It's a crinoid columnal segment. Nice contrast of specimen on the darker-colored matrix. Very showy. Resembles a Pentacrinus-type Triassic specimen.

Crinoid columnals I observed in the lower Mississippian Tin Mountain Limestone, Death Valley, California.
