The 3 datectateers got out yesterday to a site that Zoyboy had researched. Let me 1st start off by saying, "This site sucked!" :D The site had potential, but once we got to it, the grass was knee high and every signal turned out to be soda cans or gaaarrrrrbage. :D Oh well, at least we can knock it off the list. :D We have LOADS of ra-search still in the file and they ALL have GREAT potential! :D Look out for us in the fall....LOOK OUT!

I forgot to mention, I did get a 1927 Standing Liberty quarter. :P I got the signal, dug it out, and once I saw what it was, I thought, "I guess." :tongue3: For what we seek, this is not something that I call a great day, but is still appreciated in my collection. :icon_pirat:

Seriously, this was the 1st day this year that we all were verrrrry troubled while detecting. :D I looked over at Zoy and saw him cursing under his breath. :D I looked over at Zeus and saw him cussing at the trash. :D I look over at Colonial KirkPA, oh wait, I am Colonial KirkPA...well, the words out of my mouth weren't ones you would hear at a Sunday morning church service. :D

Keep the passion high!

You cant win them all Kirk. Its a shame you didnt find a 1927 D or S. Then you might have a semi key date. :o Obviously there was something on this old site that produced some modern trash. Any idea what it was?

All the one's I see are No-Dater's pretty much.....Nice lookin' coin

I think the slq was a nice find. I've never found one and if i do i will hunt the site untill theres nothing left.

ditto. I'd be pretty elated to find a slq. No matter how much trash I dug, it would make the hunt worth it. Am I calling you ungreatful...maybe a little lol. Do I envy the fact that you must find so much more than me and such better finds...maybe a little. Can't wait to see the "great day" post. GL out there.

a stander may not be colonial but it is silver! still a nice find. you`ll get `em at the next spot!

Kirk,I'll trade the plated spoon, plated fork,a hot wheels car AND all of my shotgun caps i found today for that SL ... ;D Happy hunting and hope the next outing is better for ya!

Newbie to the hobby here and would jump for joy at that find. I hope I can have enough success that someday I too will be disappointed at finding only an slq.

Thanks, man, for the reply! :) It kind of sucks that I don't get excited over a find like this, but I guess that's what happens when you have found a bunch of Colonials. :D

Keep at it, man!

There is a bit of a curse to metal detecting success, and it's bitten you . Early in a detectorist's career, every coin you dig is exciting. Then you find a wheat and memorials don't hit it anymore. Then an Indian and wheats don't satisfy. I haven't reached the point where Indians don't get me a little excited. As to silver, depending on what you find first, Rosies quickly lose their lustre after you find a Merc. Then Mercs...you get the point. Eventually, you want either key dates or old silver, or Coppas as the case may be. I guess what I've just described qualifies as an addiction and it doesn't necessarily need larger quantities of the drug to satisfy, just more powerful doses! In Kirk's case, an SLQ is a very low dose, simple as that, but it's still a dose. If I recall, wheats are just thrown away because they have no therapeutic value.

Actually, I give the non key date ones to my dad to wrap and put back into circulation. :D Colonial Silver Zeus throws them into his yard. :D

Colonial KirkPA, you are due for a coppa or Colonial wilver very soon. :D I have found enough to last one month, so you must find one, looney. :D

Now, next time the "turlet" :D is clogged, plunge it, will ya? :D :D :D

Now, next time you get a coppa reading, make it a coppa, will ya? OOOF :D
