Terry Soloman put me onto these. Some of them can actually be seen from Mina Rd. I've been going past them for FIFTEEN YEARS! From the northern edge of the RV parking lot on Mina Rd., drive north about 150 yards to the top of the rise next to the road. There is a small tree/bush at the summit. You will see some of the pets to the right of this tree. Exit your vehicle and walk up there to find MANY petroglyphs on the surrounding rocks. Enjoy!

(I will post only a few of those at this site)

Very nice Thanks for sharing these with us
Looks like a alien ?

I wonder if, back when those were made, and potato size Gold nuggets were laying around on top of the ground near Stanton, if some of those shiny rocks were picked up and taken home to their caves..

Probably not. The peoples back then seemed not to have any need for such pretty rocks. They were semi-nomadic and moved around a lot. All those "potatoes" up in the patch were still there, indicating they were of no interest to anyone before "white men" found them. ╦╦C

Bill, I sent you an answer to your PM. TNX! ╦╦C

(I am repeating my PM to you so that other curious Tnetters can see it)
Hey Bill! Good to hear from you. This is how the "archies" say the petroglyphs are made... not to be confused with pictographs, which are painting types. They took a stone, akin to a chizzle, and struck it with another (hammer) stone. They pecked at the rock, knocking off the desert varnish coating from the rock. This coating builds up on the rock and gets very dark brown/black after a few thousand years. The pecks are precisely placed to form a picture. Maybe of a human, animal, or abstract art such as circles or dots. Some are known to be over ten thousand years old. They last this long because it takes tens of thousands of years to re-coat the rock with desert varnish. Some rocks I've seen have newer art on them and VERY OLD art on the same rock indicating that the local peoples were using these same rocks for thousands of years! Neat! Look on the web for further reading. I hope I better explained it. ╦╦C

Yes, some look like aliens! All I can say to that is NOBODY ALIVE can deny they are aliens. Only time will tell. ╦╦C
