Starting them young

Never too young to learn but brothers just wanted to play and screw off,but I was bitten by the goldbug so no hope for me as 55 years later spent the day in the creek yesterday winching and gold gettn' and it was good. My last kid got his first hb/dredge at 4 1/2 paid for with his gold finds out mining with his Popz,at 35 he still has his first dwt. nugget he found, and quite a few more now--John

Im starting right of the bat...

Sorry for the bad pic but its a picture of a picture of the computer screen as I havent purchased the digital rights yet so I can't upload the actual one. I had this done at our newborn shoot. She is going to go places most kiddos don't and see what outdoor America is all about!!! Being from Missouri is kinda lagging for gold but Ive done good considering and have enough here to get her started in a couple years but cant wait to go somewhere to find her first nuggie!!! Just got to find a claim or get some opinions on places in the future. Thanks, Pat

Looks like a hard working young gal! I teach prospecting and panning to about 20 kids age 3-5 per year. I have had a few hard core kids, I think I may have converted for life. Enjoy your time with your young treasure!

What a little sweetie! Mine is only 13 months old, but i'll get her classifying as soon as she is old enough! Haha Some of the best memories I have from growing up are times that I had like this with my Dad. Catching, identifying and mounting butterflies from all over North America, picking and polishing agates from the Oregon Coast and searching through ant hills in New Mexico for turquoise beads. Being a Dad is going to be so much fun!! :D

We hiked out to this waterfall last week.

A big fat LIKE to all the above posts!:icon_thumleft:

Ya I can't wait...Heck, I can't wait for her to be able to hold her head up on her own so I can use the "hands free carrier"...My plan is to get her diggin and finding some gold of which I will pay her err...a bit above spot price :laughing7:...and have her put half in her piggy bank and use the other to buy or save for something. But most importantly I'm gonna influence the outdoors often and early as there is no end to all the electrical stimulation for us these days. I hope I can make if fun enough to have her want to get out and about if not just to explore. By the way great pics there u guys!!

Wow dpdkl I've never seen such a large and beautiful nugget caught in a sluice box. Great Picture.

And Island_Hunter when I turned my laptop upside down to look at the picture the waterfall splashed all over my Lap.

matthews1026, I really enjoyed seeing your daughter helping out with the classifying. I enjoyed all the more when I noticed that your were even allowing her to use Your special blue shovel.

Lets see now Hoser John, I can't quite make out which one of those kids is you, I mean they are all so cute!

Great pictures everybody, spending time with your children/brothers is what creates strong ties as well as wonderful memories!! 209bluebus, I started taking my children with me when they turned 4 years of age but at any age it is sooooo much fun to have then with you, a little more work but so much fun. Keep at it everybody!..................63bkpkr

I love that shovel!

We bought a sand tool kit at walmart and to her its her gold exploring kit! She has a blast helping me...cant wait to take her on some trails, she needs a little more seasoning when it comes to safety and potential danger ex. Cliffs, poison oak....but she is learning.

It is great to see everyone taking their real treasures with them and let them help. I go with my grandkids now when ever they can go with me. My oldest grandson has been going with me since he was 5. If anyone has the 2012 GPAA calendar he is featured on the cover sluicing. Him and I are also in the August page in the inset walking to a claim. Great pics and video . I love seeing that stuff.
