Found these two this past Sunday at a 1900's home site. I am amazed at the condition of the Walking Liberty Half Cent, for being in the ground for 70+ years it looks like almost uncirculated. 87510D1C-BC57-48C7-B074-87090B122006.webp

Calling BS on what the fact I found 2 coins that look this good for their age? Yes I did give them a quick clean I am not in the business of selling my finds but holding on for the memories.

P.S. - thank you yes I meant Walking Liberty :)

Your original post makes it sound like they were dug like that, and they look to have been cleaned.

They do look real nice. If not a planning on selling them I'd clean them as well. I'm sure there was some environmental damage anyways and would be worth around melt as it is. I've only found 2 walkers in my life.

I usually clean up any silvers I find as well. If it's rare or valuable I don't. My good finds end up in my coin collection to be passed down to my kids. The way I see it is if it's going in my collection it should look as good as possible. Kids are free to cuss me out in the future for cleaning all that priceless dirt off. By then I'll probably have dementia and won't care or remember digging them anyways! :sadsmiley:

this was pre-cleaning of the coins straight out of mother earth, anyone that has ever dug a coin would know they have been cleaned and polished :) not trying to fool anyone, but the fools

I'm right there with you! If its in my collection I want a nice and shinny coin to look at and to show off not some dirty coin that might be worth more than melt. Sure if I find a super rare coin I'll let the pro's clean it but come on how may of those do you find in a life time? I'm up to 2OZ of silver this year about $53 worth in melt value lol... So ya I would rather look at a nice shinny coin!

You may want to read the rules of the forum before you post that someone is lying about a find. You can report it to a mod but calling bs on a thread is against the rules. Just helping you out.

I hate to tell ya buddy but most of my silvers are silver without color. They are usually dull from wear but I have found a few with mint luster and almost perfect. Now coppers and nickels are a totally different charector

You my friend must have some nice soil :) In upstate NY the soil will eat what ever you throw at it! As you see most silver comes out with a black patina where I am I ground balance at 92-97 so highly mineralized :/
