EMMAUS, Pa. (AP) — State police are trying to figure out who pilfered a peace pipe from a statue in a Pennsylvania park.

Authorities aren't sure when the wooden pipe was taken from the life-size carving of an American Indian in Jasper Park in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County. But it must have disappeared sometime after Aug. 1.

The statue is a tribute to the Lenape tribe that had lived in the area and mined for jasper on what is now the grounds of the park. The Morning Call of Allentown reports the statue was dedicated in 1992.
