Stealth 8 Scoop HELP - Taking it on a plane

Hey everyone!

I'm in need of expert advice from this awesome community!

I have a dilemma. I was researching the best water scoop and after reading a bunch of posts decided to go for the Stealth 8 scoop.

The dilemma I'm having is taking it with me on a plane to the Caribbean. (I'm only going for 7 days, so the scoop will only be used 7 days a year or so.) My suitcase measures only 27" and the Stealth 8 measures 4 feet long... If I take the Stealth 8 as-is I believe I will pay an extra baggage fee of $100...

Are there any other good water scoops you can recommend that will fit into my suit case? or, Is there any way to saw down a broom handle to 26-27 inches and use that instead of the wooden handle that comes with the Stealth 8? Will a sawed-off broom handle do the trick?

Any other scoops you would recommend that are as good as the Stealth 8 but less expensive?

I'm a Whites M6 user and have decided to buy a Tesoro Sand Shark with the 8" coil. I will bring it with me whenever I go to the Caribbean from now on! I brought my M6 last time and in beach mode I was getting down pretty deep in the sand but once I got near the water my machine went bonkers! Lol.

My airline allows the luggage to have a max. linear dimension of 62in. So maybe I can still take the scoop as-is in a golf bag? If not, I will read through your suggestions and choose the best option for me.

I use the RTG Pro aluminum mini travel scoop. It's very lightweight and packs well. The Pro 6" travel scoops bucket is 2 inches longer if you think you may need it for PI depths. Good luck! http://www.rtgstore.com/rtgaluminumscoops.htm
