IMG_3354.webpIMG_3352.webp This button was found near the site of an 1878 skirmish between the Bannock Indians and white citizen volunteers in southwest Idaho. I wish to know whether this button is military and when it was made. Thank you.
 
Although it is not military, a Victorian steel button is an underated find, should this prove to be one, particularly out in the hinterlands of Idaho. Check "Victorian steel buttons", then all the images that come up on your search engine and you might be able to find a match which will confirm its existance before the 1878 date.
